Dublin City Council and the City Telecoms Association partner with Ookla in a first-of-its-kind study, offering a practical blueprint for European cities to enhance connectivity and tackle the digital divide
As European cities navigate rapid telecom advancements, the shift to 5G and fibre brings unique challenges that require proactive, data-driven approaches. Traditional reactive methods are insufficient; cities now need high-quality data to identify infrastructure gaps, optimize public assets, and support sustainable, inclusive connectivity.
To address these challenges, Dublin City Council partnered with Ookla, using Speedtest Insights™ for a comprehensive view of network performance across the city. This collaboration marks a shift from reactive to proactive strategies, enabling Dublin to make informed telecom infrastructure decisions.
This is the first public-facing report from this partnership that summarises Dublin’s study, showcasing how crowd-sourced network data can help cities address telecom infrastructure gaps and serve as a model for similar urban connectivity challenges across Europe.
